Heart and Soul

 I'm Back!

I have returned to Western Newfoundland,  and I feel like my heart and soul are aligned. This place has gotten under my skin and it is a part of me. It is such a privilege to be able to do my work here.

At the very beginning of this year's great adventure, I made it a point to visit some of my favourite haunts and to try and see as many of my friends as possible.

Every time I come here, I go to Gros Morne Coffee Roasters in Deer Lake to pick up my supply of delicious coffee. The owners always recognize me!

I had lunch with a good friend in Woody Point, dropped in to say hi to a few more friends, and then went to Galliott Studios, my very favourite coffee shop to catch up with Jennifer and enjoy an excellent Americano on her deck overlooking Bonne Bay. It feels like home.

The weather was gorgeous, today. The sun was shining and the temperature was around 25 degrees. I should have packed shorts.

I am now in Norris Point (see this post for more information about the geography). I will be here for the next 10 days, working hard on the artworks that I have been developing over the past two years, and exploring new areas of interest. I am currently staying at the Bonne Bay Aquarium and Research Station like I did last year. Every evening, a group of seasoned residents (the eldest is 92!) gather on the wharf, look at the fish and lobsters that swim by, reminisce, and chat. Tonight, I joined them. It was a good way to re-acquaint myself with Bonne Bay and her stories.
