Ghost Gear and Aquarium Life

Ghost gear is a big problem in the world's oceans. It is fishing gear that becomes untethered and remains in the water after the fishing boat has moved on. One of the many things AHOI does is to bring in ghost gear. Here is a post about this important work.

Today, I took some pictures of rescued ghost gear. Here are a few samples:

Aquarium Life

It rained briefly today so I popped in to see the aquarium. Here are some highlights:

Sea urchins like to wear hats, so why not make them a pink top hat?

Sea peaches. They look kinda like hearts and apparently, they function in a similar way, moving the water through their bodies much like a heart moves blood. Sometimes, they squirt water, so they are also known as sea squirts.

Pipefish. This is from the sea horse family. Like sea horses, the males carry the eggs.

Hermit crab

This is a type of sea anemone
