Traces
One last post from our Shallow Bay experience.
Patterns
The marks made on the sand by the movement of the tides and winds are remarkable. Here are some shots I took of some of the patterns:
Tracks
One of the things that we saw in abundance was animal tracks! It was fun to try and figure out which animals made them. Deer mice make cute tracks. You can count their toes! This photo is a macro shot. The footprints are tiny!
There were some interesting tracks in the dunes. I can't remember if Michael and Anne were able to identify them. I like how there is directionality and purpose in these tracks:
Here are Otter tracks:
Here are 'tracks' made by the grasses on the dunes:

And of course, we left our own tracks in the sand. We came across a lot of garbage on the shoreline. Anne collected it and took it home to dispose of it.
Good title for last entry for Shallow Bay
ReplyDeleteWe will miss the blog. You have had a wonderful time there, and i know it not be the last. If any of your hosts come this way, tell them we have a house of bedrooms and they would be most welcome.
