Another Amazing Day and My First Basket Weaving Attempt
My days here in Norris Point keep going from great to fabulous! I have been making a lot of good connections that will help me to complete a major work that I am doing out here. As part of the work, I am interviewing a lot of people who live here. It is a privilege to hear their stories.
Here are a couple of other highlights from today.
More Fish!
Today, I saw sticklebacks again. I also saw a large school of long fish that resembled small eels. They are called sand lance. I was fascinated by their movements. Here is a photo:
Sustainable Fibre Arts Conference
I signed up for a workshop at the Sustainable Fibre Arts Conference that is being held here this week. I got to weave a basket from foraged materials (reeds and grasses). This was a completely new experience for me and I think it turned out rather well for a first attempt. I am already using the basket to hold finds from my walks along the beach. Okay. Little finds. The basket is only about 5 cm tall and 8 cm wide. But still! This basket is made from dandelion stem and sweet grass.
